Well what a wash-out! To all of you who tuned in to the Proms in the Park from Caerphilly, and especially to the brave souls who came along and left absolutely sodden - I’m so sorry! The Proms were cancelled just as they were about to start, due to dreadful rain and, as a result, a leaking stage. There were puddles among the orchestra’s chairs and cables getting wet, so it really was for health and safety reasons that the concert was called off. And there I was: all dressed up and nowhere to go! What a shame. Let’s hope Caerphilly gets its evening of magic and mystery next year instead. And even if we didn’t eventually get to perform together, it was great to rehearse with Tecwyn Evans, Wynne Evans, and the brilliant BBC NOW.
The Proms were to kickstart my autumn of concerts, having had a nice quiet summer, but there are lovely gigs ahead which I hope no adverse weather can cancel! This week I’ll be in Forde Abbey singing Bach with the Magdalena Consort, next week I’m recording Noson Lawen for S4C, and the following week sees me sing in King’s Place with the wonderful lutenist, Dai Miller. We’ll be performing a programme called ‘Ravish’d with Sacred Extasies’, which was released by Coro last year, and I can’t think of a better venue in which to launch the disc properly at last.
So here’s hoping the skies remain clear as I drive around the country. Mind you, the garden’s looking nice…

I heard you singing on Radio 3 this morning. Wonderful clear voice and a joy to listen to. It reminded me of Emma Kirkby, which I hope is a compliment!
